Debby Bevins

Debby Bevins Wells, Corps Manager, Kingsmen Drum and Bugle Corps
 
Debby started with Drum Corps in 1968 where she marched in the Squires Drum Corps at age 10. After going to a show in Anaheim she just had to do that, and her Mom had marched in Drum Corps in her early years. In 1971 Debby marched with the Golden Statesmen for the summer and went to Nationals in Texas. The end of 1972 she went up to the Velvet Knights, where her Dad was the Director of the Corps. In 1974 Debby became a member of the Kingsmen Drum and Bugle Corps marching in the best rifle line of all times. Then in 1975 she became Guard Captain and taught the guard, then back marching on rifle in 1976 to 1978.
 
Debby returned as a marching member in 2005-2007 in the Kingsmen Alumni Corps where we performed once again for the DCI World Championships at the Rose Bowl on August 10, 2007. The feeling is one you could never forget. She has continued marching with the KAC doing parades and performances, marching Guard Captain with the National line. In the old days Debby would go out for IEP's doing individual competition winning on rifle and saber.
 
In 2008-2010 Debby went on tour with the Velvet Knights as a volunteer, Tour Director and Guard Instructor, helping the Corps make the top 12 each year going back east. Debby also takes care of a few different people, an elderly man and a few foster boys. She also deals with a very special 13 year old girl who has cancer, she stays in the hospital when she needs to have treatment.
 
Still wanting to keep Drum Corps going she has helped start up the Velvet Knights Alumni Corps a few months ago and enjoys going to practice once again to see all those members from the old days and getting ready to perform once again. Debby is on the BOD as Treasurer for the VK Alumni.
 
Debby has now taken on the duties of the Kingsmen Junior Corps Manager and is working to get things growing into the full Drum Corps from like years ago, 2011 here we come!
