The Kingsmen Starcorps Organization's Board of Directors will be holding its’ annual elections on September 26, 2010.
The Board currently consists of 5 members.
All positions are open and everyone is encouraged to apply. The organization needs people who want to work to facilitate putting a Junior Corps on the field.
Current Members of the Board of Directors
| President: | Wally Buice-Officer |
| Secretary: | Howard Rotsch-Officer |
| Treasurer: | Eva Frame-Officer |
| Assist. Treasurer: | Karen Petersen |
| Board Member: | Phil Norris |
In general, the Board oversees and supervises all aspects of the organization and it's performing units (Directors, employment and compensations, insurance, finances, litigation, copyrights, and contracts) and is ultimately responsible for "All Things Kingsmen". Board positions are volunteer positions with a commitment of one year (longer if re-elected). Board members attend monthly Board meetings, attend most if not all major organizational events and functions, and head or participate on an organizational committee(s). The Board is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the organization and for setting/monitoring the direction of the organization. The Board works closely with the Corps Directors who report directly to the Board.* |
|
As always, the primary focus of the organization is the continued start-up of the Kingsmen Drum and Bugle Corps Junior Corps. The KAC is an integral part of the organization and is treated as such by the organization.

The format for our election is the same as last year.
Board Election Procedures for the Sept 26th Board Elections will proceed as specified below:
--> The Board Meeting is called to order by the Board President.
--> Roll Call is taken and a quorum verified.
--> The minutes are reviewed by the Secretary.
--> The Treasurer's report and old business will be handled by the current board.*
--> Board Elections are opened and then presided over by a Board member not seeking re-election. If we have everyone seeking re-election then the Officers will decide on a person to preside over the meeting.
--> Officially Listed Board members seeking re-election are called by name and confirmed for candidacy.
--> Each Board member seeking re-election, one at a time by last name alphabetically, is called upon and offered a opportunity to speak regarding their desire and pursuit of re-election.
--> After each individual Board member’s presentation, the current voting Board members vote by private ballot.*
--> A majority vote is needed to gain a re-election for another term.*
--> The votes are counted by the presiding Board member not seeking re-election. If everyone seeks to be re-elected then the Officers count the votes.
--> Any re-election candidate who does not receive a majority vote will continue as a voting Board member through phase two of the election(below) and then becomes inactive immediately after the conclusion of the election.*
--> Following the above phase of the election, officially listed new persons seeking a position on the Board are called by name and confirmed as being interested in seeking a Board position.
--> One at a time, a prospective candidate is asked to say a few words regarding his or her interest in being on the Board.
--> Any Board member may then say a few words (pro or con) to the Board regarding the prospective candidate. The board members may ask questions of the prospective board candidate.*
--> The Acting President or meeting leader will then ask the Board, "Is there a Board member who will nominate this candidate?" If nominated, the candidate is then voted on by the Board by Private ballot (majority votes are needed to proceed).*
--> The total votes received by the candidate are recorded.
--> If the candidate receives less than a majority of votes, their bid for a Board seat is concluded (a seat is not won).*
--> This process continues until all prospective candidates have been addressed.
--> The new candidates with the most votes join the Board.
--> If there are ties, the Board re-votes by private ballot until the excess candidate(s) are eliminated and the Board is filled.*
--> If all Board positions are not filled, the Board will seek more potential candidates and proceed with the above "Board Election Phase Two" at the next Board meeting.
--> The elections are concluded and closed by the presiding Board member not seeking re-election if there is one. Otherwise the President of the Board will end the Election Meeting.
